Business Affairs and Operations Unite as Enterprise Operations and Strategy

May 14, 2026

The ongoing integration of Business Affairs on the academic campus and operational units on the health campus reached an exciting milestone this month with the announcement of a new division name: Enterprise Operations and Strategy. This update marks an important step in building a unified division to support the institution’s expanded missions.

Building Momentum

Since Jan. 1, teams from both campuses have come together under a shared leadership structure led by Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Andrea Marks. The integration reflects a university-wide commitment to aligning operations in support of academic, research and health priorities.

From the outset, divisional leadership has emphasized a strategic and phased approach centered on collaboration, transparency and support for employees. The Integration Management Office is guiding leaders through a thoughtful process designed to build a strong understanding of personnel, operations and organizational culture across both campuses. Early and continuing efforts have focused on listening and learning.

Momentum for the combined division was established during its first virtual town hall in January, which brought together more than 1,000 employees across both campuses. During the event, Marks outlined the division’s leadership structure and next steps, reinforcing a shared vision and commitment to ongoing communication.

A New Shared Identity

On May 4, Marks announced that the integrated division would be united under the name Enterprise Operations and Strategy. This name resulted from an extensive engagement process that included employee feedback, benchmarking with peer institutions and discussions among divisional leadership. The new identity unifies previously separate naming conventions used across the academic and health campuses.

“Enterprise Operations and Strategy reflects the scope, responsibility and intent of our work,” Marks said. “Together, our name communicates a clear message: we enable the institution to operate at its best while helping translate strategy into coordinated, effective action.”

Each component of the name mirrors divisional priorities. “Enterprise” highlights systemwide integration across missions, “Operations” emphasizes reliability and service delivery, and “Strategy” signals a focus on aligning operations with long-term institutional goals.

Looking Ahead

Because of the division’s size and complexity, integration efforts for individual units are progressing at a tailored pace. Some teams are identifying early opportunities for alignment, while others are prioritizing operational stability and existing projects. Throughout the process, leaders have underscored key priorities such as sustaining institutional growth, supporting strategic initiatives already underway and maintaining continuity of services.

Moving forward, Enterprise Operations and Strategy will continue to serve as a key driver in supporting UT San Antonio’s momentum and continued growth as a unified institution, ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment across the university.
