Task Force Updates

Current updates from the active Integration Task Forces.

  • Identified Academic Year 25–26 priorities, informing the next set of working groups to be launched.
  • Presented key findings at the June 2025 ASFA Task Force meeting.
  • Ten working groups produced 44 final products, including recommendations, inventories, communication plans and roadmaps.
Sep 2025
  • Completed documentation and review of 34 accreditation standards and submitted the Substantive Change Report to SACSCOC ahead of schedule (September 10, 2025).
  • The merger prospectus was reviewed and approved by the SACSCOC Board in June 2025.
  • The Task Force submitted the prospectus to SACSCOC in March 2025. SACSCOC will vote to approve the prospectus at their June 2025 Board meeting.
  • Members focused on finalizing a prospectus for submission by mid-March 2025.
  • Based on positive feedback on the new, combined mission statement through each institution’s shared governance process, the university presented the statement to the UT System Board of Regents for approval on November 20, 2024. The new mission statement was approved, marking a key milestone.

  • The Task Force updated FAQs, which are now available on: UT San Antonio Together
  • New assets and guidelines have been finalized, and members are continuing operations for brand socialization, IMO communications support, working groups and tiger teams.
  • Members developed messaging strategies, processes and planned for the launch of audience-based work groups that will engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Members developed communication plans and messaging strategies to guide the efforts of forthcoming working groups that will tailor outreach to various stakeholders.
  • Members developed new content, created communications pieces for internal and external audiences, captured and responded to feedback from our university communities and maintained and updated the integration website.
Aug 2025
  • Since February 2025, the ASFA Task Force has launched ten working groups engaging 127 faculty, staff, students, and administrators from both institutions. Each group focused on a key area of academic, student, or faculty affairs—such as academic programs, student services, financial aid, and faculty development—and collectively produced approximately 44 artifacts, including recommendations, inventories, communications plans and roadmaps to guide integration efforts.
  • The task force has launched four new working groups: Student Financial Aid, International Services/International Visa Compliance, Health Science Center Student Career Planning and Mandatory Fees.
Aug 2025
  • Members held listening and input sessions with internal and external audiences to gather insights for developing our new university brand narrative. Concurrently, our brand consultant, Prophet, conducted brand audits of peer institutions and synthesized audience perception research from both UTSA and UTHSA.
  • With approval from the Integrated Executive Committee, the task force selected a highly respected national branding agency partner, Prophet, to develop our world-class brand narrative, engage stakeholders and roll out a high-impact, national awareness campaign.
Aug 2025
  • Kicked off next phase of work for Mandatory Reporting WG focused on compliance and joint reporting efforts.
  • Launched new Compliance Working Group with subgroups focused on policy harmonization and compliance training.
  • Cross Campus Incident Escalation (CCIE) WG completed initial phase of work with recommendations and inventory of next steps. Work Group is completing final confirmation and testing of cross campus incident escalation process and protocols.
  • The Legal Structure, Institutional Reporting and Compliance Initial Discovery working groups finalized charters and activated work on high priority reports under ERM.
  • The Incident Escalation and Communication working group finalized the Incident Escalation Initial Inventory of Alignment and Coordination Opportunities and Incident Escalation Guidance Matrix to ensure a combined approach to incident escalation and communication on day one.
  • In February 2025, the task force launched two new working groups: Legal Structure, Institutional Reporting and Compliance and Incident Escalation and Communication.
